Louis Vuitton Vintage 1970’s Monogram Papillon 28cm Micro Mini Set

Louis Vuitton Vintage 1970’s Monogram Papillon 28cm Micro Mini Set

This is a true vintage older papillon set circa 1972!  These older sets also come with the bonus micro mini size. The Papillon bag was designed by Henri Racamier, the husband of Louis Vuitton’s great granddaughter. He launched the bag in 1966 and it has been popular ever since. The French word “Papillon” means butterfly. The design of the bag, supposedly, is inspired by a butterfly. The shape of the bag is circular, representing the body of a butterfly, while the handles look like the wings. Please note that being an older vintage version, it has the thick dark tan leather (not the easily watermarked vachetta leather today), a thick leather lining, slightly different canvas coloration, and thicker canvas than newer bags. Since the older 1970’s bags had no date code and were not stamped Louis Vuitton, we include an Entrupy certificate of authenticity.  Fair vintage condition with lots of wear to leather from age and use.  Darkening and wear to all metal hardware as well. Talon metal zipper.  Please note this bag is about 45+ years old.
